This is a sensational discovery: one of the survived early films of the famous Skladanowsky Brothers (uncles of the Warner & the Marx Broth.?). This short film is still a bit unsteady and clumsy, but note the premature idea of repetition à la Steve Reich (who probably has stolen this idea from the Skladanowsky Broth. - who really knows?). And - hunderttausend heulende und jaulende Höllenhunde! - what about the very early use of a Tintin image? The world is full of mysteries.

In den letzten drei Wochen die komplette TV-Serie M.A.S.H. aus den Jahren 1972-'83 auf 33 DVDs wiedergesehen; gestern spät abends war's dann die allerletzte überlange Folge: "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" und ich habe dabei geheult wie ein Schlosshund.

Der Hintergrund der Serie, der Koreakrieg (1950-'53), war für die damalige USA- & UN-Politik und deren Militärbürokratie kein Krieg, ach was, es war nur eine "Polizeiaktion" (mit etwa 3 Millionen Toten, etc.). ... Sechzig Jahre danach ist dieser verlogene politische Euphemismus auch für unsere (nicht von mir) gewählten Pappnasen noch derselbe, siehe Afghanistan.

PS: Falls "Pappnasen" zu harmlos klingt, war das nicht so gemeint; diese Leute können trotz ihrer Lächerlichkeit auch sehr gefährlich sein.

3-D film? Strangely, a fact is often neglected when the German press reports about this new gimmick: I'm old enough and remember that 3-D movies were in fashion - and quickly out of fashion - already during the mid fifties. It was a flop.
